Elie Saab Fall 2014 Couture Collection

Inspired by Paris, the City of Light, Elie Saab presented a collection of grandeur and ethereality for his fall-winter 2014 haute couture show. The Elie Saab woman glitters, shines and reflects like the city itself in dazzling jewel-tones of sapphire blue, sapphire red and rosé. Lace, tulle and crystal embroideries; all signatures of the Lebanese designer are showcased while sumptuous fur collars and stoles add a Parisian flare to the delicately crafted gowns. The final section ends on a light note with diaphanous whites and silvers including sheer capes and princess skirts.

Elie Saab Exhibition at Four Seasons George V Paris

If you happen to be in Paris during the fashion week, you might be tempted to visit Elie Saab’s pop-up exhibition hosted by the Four Seasons George V Hotel in Paris. The presentation showcases Elie Saab’s latest Haute Couture designs, and opens today, Tuesday 24th September – running until Sunday 6th October 2013.

The exhibition has been curated by Jeff Leatheam, Creative Director of the hotel since 14 years. On display is a selection of eight Elie Saab silhouettes from the Autumn-Winter 2013/14 Haute Couture collection. Jeff Leatham is renowned internationally for having revolutionized floral artwork and for his spectacular flower arrangements.

In the hotel lobby, six ruby-red and silvery grey evening gowns have been put on show like precious royal jewels, presented on mirrored plexiglass podiums and encircled by 15,000 red Naomi roses. At the centre, beneath a Florentine crystal chandelier, stands a majestic gown made of silk tulle and lace with a cape embroidered with crystal, sequins and fine beads.

The regal wedding dress and its matching veil are exhibited at the entrance to the hallway. The tulle gown is entirely embroidered with semi-precious stones, beads and crystals and is surrounded by 9,000 Avalanche roses.

There is no way one will stay indifferent when seeing Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture collection. The Lebanese designer followed his path and didn’t let his fans down. Each one of those magnificent gowns is able to breathe new life into you. A sparkly, delicate, and wondrous life full of delight and amusement.
Elie Saab is a true fan of monochrome. His beautiful dresses are embellished with crystals, sequins, and beads of the color similar to that of the gown. Some criticize such a devotion to one idea, but we won’t join those bad mouths. Who wants to wear, say, a blue gown with yellow and red beads on it and a green underskirt? Rainbow is not my middle name, so I would rather stick to Saab’s original midnight blue bustier frock embellished with blue and black sequins (after all, it is not just one color).
The palette of the collection includes various shades of green, red, blue, and beige. Wearing any of these gowns simplifies your life a lot. You don’t have to worry about accessory choice any more. Elegant earrings and a bracelet would be more than enough. It is the dress that’s the main character of your book. A pair of fine scarpins or pumps and an elegant minaudiere – your fabulous outfit is ready. So simple to put together, yet so sophisticated and elaborate to look on you.

One item that stands out among the floor-length and cocktail dresses is a one-shoulder tan jumpsuit with an embellished top. This gorgeous piece is like an oasis in a huge desert of frocks. I love how flirty it shows off the model’s shoulder, which is by the way the only part that she reveals. I can tell, any man you wish to charm would be intrigued to the depth of his сurious nature, if he spotted you in such an outfit. Look at it as a demo version of the video game – this is how much you can offer him now, but if he deserves your trust, he will get more.

 The final accord of the show was obviously set to blow minds of all the guests. Saab’s bride looked marvelous in a tulle gown embroidered with crystals, quartz, and glitter. Her bridesmaids were definitely having a hard time carrying her super long train, but all four of them, including the bride who somehow managed not to trip over, completed their task. Now, this is one dress I would hesitate about, for I have no desire to entertain my wedding guests by flying through the stairs and wiping the dirty floors with my precious body.
